Traxxas Skully RC Vehicle

Traxxas Skully
Titan T 12 Electric Power - The power on-board the Traxxas Skully is delivered by a brushed Titan 550 motor, delivering speeds beyond 30 mph mark. One problem with all R/C motors is keeping them cool, it seems to be a major factor in the longevity of motor life, an integrated cooling fan pulls air through the motor to keep the motor cool. It is recommended that you let the motor cool down between runs or battery packs.
You want to be sure to break in the motor per Traxxas instructions before your first run to seat the brushes and remove any debris inside the can.
Magnum 272 Transmission
Drivetrain with Sealed Electronics - The Traxxas Skully Transmission is a magnum 272 that is sealed with steel gears and ball bearings throughout with a Revo-Spec adjustable slipper clutch.
The heavy duty slipper clutch is designed to handle the torque of the stock motor and any upgrade to a brushless system.
Telescoping axles deliver power to the wheels, with Terra Groove tires providing the traction.
Note: One downside or con is the bronze bushing that is used to support the stub axles in the front and rear will likely need to be upgraded as bearings are the norm in RC evolution today.  On the bright side an upgrade to bearings is inexpensive and easy to complete.
Electronics & ESC - The 3 channel receiver on the Skully is housed in a water resistant box. (The box is sealed but the receiver is not waterproof).
The high torque #2056 steering servo is waterproof.
The XL-5 Electronic Speed Control is sealed from the elements, this system provides 3 driving modes.
1) Training Mode - 50% Forward / Brake / 50% Reverse
2) Sport Mode - Forward / Brake / Reverse
3) Race Mode - Forward / Brake
Battery and Charger - Powering the on-board electronics on the Traxxas Skully is a Traxxas iD  7 cell NiMH battery pack with Traxxas high current connectors.
The included charger is a 4 amp NiMH car charger and uses a 12 volt DC power outlet. The charger is optimized for charging your NiMH battery, a green LED light flashes when a charge is in progress, and then turns solid green when a charge is complete.
Traxxas iD chargers are available (sold separately) and automatically set and optimize charges.
2.4 GHz Radio System-The TQ radio system provides precise control for the Monster Truck. The transmitter is easy to use, just simply turn on and your off and running. There are no channels or frequencies to worry about.
The TQ's unique design is comfortable in your hand for extended driving sessions, an internal antenna is housed in its sleek design.  The system is easy to use even if your a beginner who has never driven an R/C vehicle before. The exclusive Training Mode makes it easy to turn the model over to friends with the desire to get in on the action.

Comments from Skully Owners
The Truck is Great !  Runs and performs well. Would love to give it 5 stars but, downside comes with car charger.
Kids love it, goes like mad..........like it so much I bought a stampede
Great starter car, reasonably priced..........with available upgrades
The Truck is awesome ! Bought it for my 4 yr old son ....we both love it....one cool feature is the training mode
Wheelies like crazy !
Off the jumps the truck is fairly smooth on the landings.....it can take some hard tumbles.
Front of truck is a bit light, so turns can get a bit wide at high speeds
Be aware with the high center of gravity, it tends to want tip over when cornering at high speeds

ADVANTAGES
Affordable
Great entry level vehicle ( with Training Mode)
Parts and upgrades readily available
Durable
30 + mph with proper gearing

DISADVANTAGES
Many find the car charger a disappointment. ( iD Chargers are available but not included)

Final Thoughts
One thing I like about the lineup of Traxxas RC vehicles is there is something for everyone. Plenty of choices for beginners, and seasoned drivers alike. The Traxxas Skully is definitely a good choice for anyone just getting into the hobby.
