A look at the Kodo HD Drone
Introduction
Looking for a small drone that is video capable at an affordable price ?
Kodo HD Drone |
This Kodo quad is a drone spanning just
5-3/4" with the included blade guards on.
The ready to fly 106 mm Kado HD Drone comes fully assembled and equipped with everything you need to be airborne in a short period of time, once the battery is fully charged.
The Kodo responds quickly with authority to your commands, aerobatic maneuvers and flips are snappy with the weight reduction.
For sharper video and imagery the new 1080p digital camera gives you full HD resolution to work with.
KEY FEATURES
Radio System Q 106
This 2.4GHz radio provides worry-free flying, free from interference while flying in a group or with your friends.
The 2.4GHz transmitter features a flip mode, so if your a sport type flyer you will enjoy flipping this small drone. To flip the Kodo Drone, you simply press the right stick, and then push the stick in the direction you want the drone to flip. It flips quite quickly and is an easy maneuver to perform.
There are 3 flight modes, easy, normal, and expert that can be accessed with the radio system. They all have different sensitivity, relative to your stick commands.
The low sensitivity rate is great for beginners, more experienced pilots may take a more aggressive approach to sensitivity, which is initiated by pressing the left stick. The transmitter will beep to let you know which flight mode you are in. 1 beep for low sensitivity, 2 beeps for moderate, and 3 beeps for maximum sensitivity.
As you progress and enhance your skills, you can move up to the next level, great for those who haven't flown before.
HD Camera
Kodo HD Camera |
On-board this small drone is a micro digital camera, with an adjustable camera lens that can be adjusted manually to about 45 degrees allows you to get the right angle when taking aerial images or recording aerial video.
A button located on the transmitter is used for still imagery, and another button is provided for starting or stopping video recording.
Included with the Kodo HD Drone is an on-board micro SD card for saving content, along with a card reader. The camera is capable of delivering 1080p jpeg images and .avi files at 30fps for video.
Note: The quality from the camera is good but without a gimble imagery can be a bit fuzzy. You will want to hold the Kodo in a steady position while hovering for best results, with practice over time the quality of your aerial imagery will improve. If your looking for professional imagery you will have to spend well beyond the price of this Kodo HD Drone.
PERFORMANCE
The multi rotors on the Kodo HD Drone were designed with the beginner in mind. This small drone makes flying indoors fun, navigating around obstacles, and down hallways.
The camera and frame upgrades from the original version are quite welcome changes.
The transmitter is quite small, and can be a challenge for those with large hands. There are a number of nice features on the transmitter to benefit beginners and experienced pilots alike. The 3 flight modes make for an enjoyable experience for pilots at any skill level.
AAA Batteries are included to power the radio system.
The flight characteristics on this small drone are predictable and quite stable in mild to moderate winds. Flying in winds over 7-10 mph is not recommended due to its size. Flying the Kodo HD more than 100' away or above you can be a challenge, at distance the Kodo is difficult to see and control can be lost if you loose orientation.
The average flight time is around 5 min.on the included 3.7V 350 mAh LiPo battery that has been fully charged. Keep in mind, capturing video and imagery will shorten flight time, recharging the battery takes about an hour with the included USB charger on a fully discharged battery.
Buying a couple extra batteries can extend your flying time while the others are charging.
