Opinions and Feedback from Drivers ( Pro's and Con's)
Great Buggy for the money.
Extremely fast, handles well.
Stock tires are not great.............be prepared to invest in some upgrades
Great for bashing, spin-outs, and jumping.
One of the few in its class that is ready to run, with 6s capability
By accident I  drove my Arrma Typhon off into a 2 ' ditch full of water, I thought my model was done for, after lifting it out of the water, I  began driving it like nothing happened.
While jumping on 4s the Typhon tended to jump with its nose a bit low, however on 6s was easy to level out no matter what position the nose was in.  Suspension was good on normal jumps, but a bit soft on huge jumps which required sky high landings.
A blast on pavement, plenty of power, handles well, does well in grass as long as the grass is short.

Final Thoughts
As you can see in the video, this model is good for jumping, has plenty of power, and handles quite well.
The Arrma Typhon  is a good multi-terrain vehicle, but is limited in some applications, overall most drivers feel the model is worth the money, realizing that some upgrades may need to be made to fit their driving style. SMALL DRONE

A look at the Kodo HD Drone

Introduction

Looking for a small drone that is video capable at an affordable price ?
small drone
Kodo HD Drone
The Kodo HD Drone is quite the little package you may be looking for.
This Kodo quad is a drone spanning just
5-3/4" with the included blade guards on.
The ready to fly 106 mm Kado HD Drone comes fully assembled and equipped with everything you need to be airborne in a short period of time, once the battery is fully charged.
The Kodo responds quickly with authority to your commands,  aerobatic maneuvers and flips are snappy with the weight reduction.
For sharper video and imagery the new 1080p digital camera gives you full HD resolution to work with.

KEY FEATURES

Radio System Q 106
This 2.4GHz radio provides worry-free flying, free from interference while flying in a group or with your friends.
The 2.4GHz transmitter features a flip mode, so if your a sport type flyer you will enjoy flipping this small drone. To flip the Kodo Drone, you simply press the right stick, and then push the stick in the direction you want the drone to flip. It flips quite quickly and is an easy maneuver to perform.
There are 3 flight modes, easy, normal, and expert that can be accessed with the radio system. They all have different sensitivity, relative to your stick commands.
The low sensitivity rate is great for beginners, more experienced pilots may take a more aggressive approach to sensitivity, which is initiated by pressing the left stick. The transmitter will beep to let you know which flight mode you are in. 1 beep for low sensitivity, 2 beeps for moderate, and 3 beeps for maximum sensitivity.
As you progress and enhance your skills, you can move up to the next level, great for those who haven't flown before.

HD Camera
Kodo HD Camera

On-board this small drone is a micro digital camera, with an adjustable camera lens that can be adjusted manually to about 45 degrees allows you to get the right angle when taking aerial images or recording aerial video.
A button located on the transmitter is used for still imagery, and another button is provided for starting or stopping video recording.
Included with the Kodo HD Drone is an on-board micro SD card for saving content, along with a card reader. The camera is capable of delivering 1080p jpeg images and .avi files at 30fps for video.
Note: The quality from the camera is good but without a gimble imagery can be a bit fuzzy. You will want to hold the Kodo in a steady position while hovering for best results, with practice over time the quality of your aerial imagery will improve. If your looking for professional imagery you will have to spend well beyond the price of this Kodo HD Drone.

PERFORMANCE

The multi rotors on the Kodo HD Drone were designed with the beginner in mind. This small drone makes flying indoors fun, navigating around obstacles, and down hallways.
The camera and frame upgrades from the original version are quite welcome changes.
The transmitter is quite small, and can be a challenge for those with large hands. There are a number of nice features on the transmitter to benefit beginners and experienced pilots alike. The 3 flight modes make for an enjoyable experience for pilots at any skill level.
AAA Batteries are included to power the radio system.
The flight characteristics on this small drone are predictable and quite stable in mild to moderate winds. Flying in winds over 7-10 mph is not recommended due to its size. Flying the Kodo HD more than 100' away or above you can be a challenge, at distance the Kodo is difficult to see and control can be lost if you loose orientation.
The average flight time is around 5 min.on the included 3.7V 350 mAh LiPo battery that has been fully charged.  Keep in mind, capturing video and imagery will shorten flight time, recharging the battery takes about an hour with the included USB charger on a fully discharged battery.
Buying a couple extra batteries can extend your flying time while the others are charging.
video

Pro's
Affordable
Great for beginners and experts alike !   with 3 different flight modes
Small Drone - can be flown indoors
Camera image quality (although not professional grade quite good actually)
Stable flight characteristics indoors and outdoors in light to moderate winds.
Durable - can withstand some punishment
Aerobactic - can perform flips and rolls

Con's
Limited outdoor flight in high winds - due to its size
Disconnecting battery can be a challenge- have to use caution and not to use to much force to prevent damage

Final Thoughts
If you are a beginner looking for an entry level quadcopter, the KODO  HD may just be the ticket your looking for.  It is very affordable with some nice features that I think are well worth the money, including the HD camera.

losi mini eight
Losi Mini Eight T RC Buggy

Losi Mini Eight T

AVC Technology- To handle the power of the brushless 4500 KV motor, Losi implemented the AVC (Active Vehicle Control) system, for precise handling, that keeps the Losi Mini Eight on track.
The AVC system manages steering and throttle features, allowing drivers to experience the full potential of their R/C vehicle.
The AVC system allows you to make sudden adjustments while maneuvering around objects without backing off on the power. It diagnosis's control inputs, senses your models direction, to hold your line, without any lag in responding. On rough or rugged terrain, maintaining control can be challenging, the AVC system makes sure that throttle and steering are precisely managed to keep you headed in the desired direction.
Throttle assist adjusts power to keep the rear in line with your heading
Steering assist keeps your front wheels aimed in the right direction, while being bounced around on uneven surfaces.
If you are attempting to nail big jumps over ramps, the AVC system will keep your model positioned on dead center no matter your speed, you just simply line up and mash the throttle.
Brushless Power - The 280 size dynamite 4500 KV brushless motor was designed and built to provide an ample amount of power for the 4WD drivetrain featured on the losi mini eight, the motor requires minimal maintenance while providing plenty of high speed action.
Cells   6C NiMH and 2-3s LiPo batteries. Turning out 33,300 Rpm.
Controlling the power is the dynamite brushless ESC (Electronic Speed Control)  which by the way is waterproof.
The dynamite ESC features a built-in cutoff, with auto cell detection and is also compatible with NiMH and 2s to 3s LiPo batteries.
video

Aluminum Chassis and Drivetrain Components - The platform for the Losi Mini Eight T is made of aluminum making it lightweight yet durable.
Complimenting the chassis is the 4WD shaft-driven drivetrain with front and rear differentials housing metal
gears, while aluminum shock towers and threaded oil-filled shocks are found on all four corners, with adjustable turnbuckles rounding out the support.
The motor is held with a lightweight aluminum motor mount.
Handling the turning is a chassis mounted mini servo.
Note : Have heard from and read reviews from many drivers who say that the ball ends pop off quite regularly, reported that is by design according to some to keep from breaking parts, they are designed to pop-off before inflicting further damage. I understand how that can become discouraging.

Spektrum DX2E Transmitter - Features extended range with DSMR technology.
It's sleek design is comfortable in your hand for those extended driving periods.
The limited throttle feature is ideal for training or beginners who may have never driven an r/c vehicle before.
The transmitter is capable of servo reversing as well
Enhanced AVC Receiver - The SRS 4200 receiver with AVC included allows you to get the most out of the models 4WD feature, including brushless power.
You will enjoy the extended range free from interference for worry-free driving.

Comments from Losi Mini Eight T owners
Fast !  Waterproof so we can use it in the winter months. Stable, handles turns and corners well. More durable than I expected.
Well built Buggy. Stock NiMH battery doesn't perform as well. Suggest running 2s or 3s batteries for better performance.
Buy the RPM bumper ! a good investment to protect equipment ......learned from prior experience...buy a heat sink ....motor does get warm.
This Truggy is good out of the box, but can be upgraded to perform at a higher level.
At the skate park it performed well, hitting jumps with ease, shocks are a bit soft, bottoms out a bit on bigger jumps. The charger it comes with is cheap, doesn't let you know when the battery has full charge.

ADVANTAGES
Fast on 2s or 3s LiPo
Great for a beginner  Limited throttle feature
AVC (Active Vehicle Control) System
Handling and turning characteristics are good, stable with its wide stance
Performs well while jumping over earthen or man made ramps.
Waterproof Electronics can handle wet environments
Parts and upgrades readily available
Ready to Run with everything included

DISADVANTAGES
Doesn't perform as well on grass
Lacks performance on NiMH battery

Final Thoughts
The Losi Mini Eight T has a number of strong points that make it a good choice for many, when it comes right down to it, it all depends on what a R/C driver is looking to accomplish with the model.  Driving styles and the terrain you plan to encounter will be deciding factors as well.

TRAXXAS RUSTLER

                           Traxxas Rustler XL-5 Performance Review

Traxxas
The Innovative thinking approach that the team at Traxxas has been known for is definitely paying off, with the #1 selling 1/10 stadium racer the Traxxas Rustler XL-5.
Traxxas has been designing and releasing some of the fastest , ready to race, high performance r/c vehicles since 1986, that over 30 years folks.
Traxxas models are fully assembled and include the latest features in radio control systems, that are ready to run, in just minutes right out of the box.
No company in the r/c industry is complete without customer support. Rest assured the support team at Traxxas is ready and willing to answer any questions, or deal with any problems you may encounter.
I have personally dealt with them and they have always met my expectations, and have went above and beyond in several instances.

Key Features Rustler XL-5

traxxas rustler
Traxxas Rustler XL -5  RC Car

Training Mode - Great for Beginners ! The  Rustler XL-5 is a good choice for drivers at all levels from beginners to expert drivers.
This feature allows those who have never driven a radio controlled vehicle to do so. With a simple press of a button on the transmitter the throttle is cut to 50%, enables inexperienced drivers to enhance their skills before unleashing full power from the Titan 12 T motor.
Anyone can enjoy an r/c experience with the patented training mode from Traxxas.

Titan Power
Powering the Traxxas Rustler is the Titan 12 T electric motor. You may read a lot of reviews that place the Titan 12T motor in a negative light, that the motor life is short lived.
Well if we knew the whole story we can better understand why that may happen.  Like all mechanical things, the lifespan can be extended if they are cared for properly. Here are a few things to remember.
1) Read your manual - break in is important. 2) Clean them after each use - wipe of outside, blow out inside. (Air hose) 3) Improper gearing can burn these motors up, make sure your model is geared for the application. 4) Running conditions that they are exposed to, sandy or dusty conditions can shorten engine life. 5) Remember these are sealed brushed motors, they are naturally going to get warm,  so they are not going to last a lifetime.
In reality they are quite good for a brushed motor in its price range, and turn out decent torque and speed
On occasion people get a lemon and it dies quickly, Traxxas being the company they are, you should have no problem getting a replacement.

Chassis and Undercarriage
Traxxas Rustler XL-5 Chassis

The Traxxas Rustler XL-5 rides on a fiber composite chassis, that is quite rigid and durable with its designed low CG.
Stability is enhanced with its lively front axle suspension and centered pin.
A 3 gear transmission with variable ratio's transfers the power to the ground. The ball bearings are sealed with telescoping driveshafts. The differential houses hardened steel gears.
Large axle carriers, oilite bushings and powder coated white shocks compliment the package quite nicely.
The body on the  Rustler is a 6 color Pro-Graphix body with pre-applied decals.
The featured wheels are mirror chrome all stars with pre-glued performance tires, alias step pin tires on the rear, and alias ribbed tires mounted on the front.
Note: The rear tires may lack grip on certain surfaces. Work well on hard pavement.
video

Waterproof Electronics
The sealed watertight electronics give you the opportunity to go places you never deemed possible.
Wet environments like water, snow or mud are no problem with the waterproof electronics including XL-5 electronic speed control, receiver, and the high torque steering servo.
This electronic feature from all accounts, including feedback works well with minimal issues.

TQ 2.4 GHz - 2 Channel Radio

Bought this for my kid....read manual carefully.....you will for sure need to spend more money.....this is a hobby right? ...maintenance.....upgrades.

ADVANTAGES
Decent Speed & Torque
Great for beginners and experienced drivers alike......plenty fast out of box
Training Mode - allows you to cut throttle up to 50%
Waterproof Electronics
Good Stability and Handling
Parts availability and upgrades

The safe and convenient EZ Start push button electric starting system makes bringing your Traxxas Jato engine to life a breeze, simply plug the hand held unit into the starting port, once engaged press the red start button, the EZ Start system will heat the glow plug, and the drive unit will roll the engine over.
EZ start uses smart technology to monitor and sensor starting activity, and diagnoses problems for a trouble free starting experience.

TSM Traxxas Stability Management
On-board the Traxxas Jato is the innovative TSM system. How does it work ?
Traxxas engineers utilized a new receiver in combination with a TQi transmitter, equipped with a multi function knob that can be dialed in to provide more or less stability assistance depending on the amount that is needed or desired, without interfering with your driving adventure, throttle, speed, or acceleration.
TSM assists the driver with tracking to keep the vehicle on course and straight, while cornering TSM makes corrections to maintain your heading, but allows you to bury the throttle earlier for faster exit speeds, when braking TSM keeps your model straight until is comes to a complete stop.
TSM works to maintain your line when encountering slippery surfaces, like snow, ice, or even loose soil.

TQi 2.4GHz Radio
The Traxxas Jato is controlled and managed with a long range, high output, TQi  2.4GHz radio system with a number of tuning features.
The TQi is capable of handling the Traxxas Link Wireless Module, that can be teamed up with an Apple iOS or android for viewing real time telemetry with the pre-installed on board telemetry sensors.
With Traxxas Link you can store up to 30 models in its memory bank.
3 telemetry ports are available with the 5 channel receiver.

Comments from Owners
Fast out of the box. Make sure you break in the engine properly !  (If you fail to do so expect repairs)
Need to be an experienced driver.......Fast ! (Not recommended for a beginner)    break in and tuning are easy with this model.
They are not lying when it comes to speed !  Fast !
Stock Tires are not real effective on grass or soil.
Like the fact that the radio has variable steering rates......a must for an R/C vehicle that is fast

ADVANTAGES

Extremely Fast
2 Speed Transmission (Power to pull off long standing wheelies)
TSM -Assist's driver with handling
Wide array of tuning and adjustment options to maximize performance
Pre- Installed Telemetry Sensors
Comes Ready to Run (after break-in of course)

DISADVANTAGES

Not for beginners. Rated a skill level 5
No reverse feature

Final Thoughts
No doubt the Traxxas Jato is one of the quickest nitro models on the market. The pro's far outweigh the con's, overall this has been a top performer in the Traxxas lineup. I have just touched on a small number of the key features on the Jato but the feature list on this model is quite lengthy.

FPV DRONE

                                       First Person View Applications

INTRODUCTION

If you are new to the RC world or have been involved or around it for some time, you may have heard or seen the abbreviation FPV (First Person View) but may have wondered what does that really mean.
What actually is FPV ?   - can also be referred to as first person point of view (POV).
FPV Defined - Gives a particular user, using a certain piece of technology the capability to see visuals beyond or outside the realm of  their physical location, such as live video from an airborne drone camera or possibly a character in a video game.
UAV's (Unmanned Aerial Vehicles) commonly referred to as r/c drones or airplanes, FPV drones are widely used today with their mobility and flight characteristics to capture video and imagery in hard to get to areas that otherwise may be inaccessible, therefore offering an affordable option for amateur pilots and R/C enthusiasts to obtain stunning aerial photography.
FPV Drone racing has become very popular in recent years and is growing quite rapidly.
FPV is used and is common in a number of video games allowing users the opportunity to play the part of a particular character.
There are a number of FPV applications featured today, in many vehicles today cameras are mounted on the rear of the vehicle, while feeding live images to the cab of the vehicle to assist you while backing your vehicle.

Drone FPV Aerial Image

When it comes to UAV's ( Unmanned Aerial Vehicles) commonly known as r/c drones or airplanes, major breakthrough's have been made with FPV (First Person View) Technology opening up a whole new phenomenon delivering stunning aerial video and imagery.
This new Technology is implemented with a camera mounted or attached to a UAV which transfers live video feed to the pilot positioned on the ground. Giving pilots an on-board feel as if there were actually seated inside the UAV.
All of this is accomplished with small cameras with wireless links.

FPV and Video Games

Video Game FPV

Much like a FPV Drone, video games provide a realistic view for gamers as if they were actually a character involved in a real life situation.
Games with a FPV perspective allows the player or gamer to see what the character would see with his own eyes. Players typically cannot see the characters body, but it is possible at times to see things like weapons or his hands.
Video games are primarily used as entertainment, focused more on relaxation and fun.
Video games provide a sense of gratification, but hold no real value or consequence which allows people to release stress and wind down after a long stressful day at work .

                                                                                       FPV DRONE RACING

Drone Race

When you think about FPV, the first thing that comes to mind is FPV racing which has become an extremely popular sport as of late, pilots compete and race small quadcopters around a preset track.
An FPV drone used for racing requires a set of FPV goggles that aids a pilot as he maneuvers through and around the race course.
For the best flying experience and view, it is important that the FPV goggles allow each eye pupil to be positioned correctly within the exit pupils of the goggles. If they don't fit your eyes properly your FPV experience may be disappointing.  Advanced IPD is recommended.

DRONES WITH CAMERA

If racing does not appeal to you, there are many sport and professional type drones on the market today equipped with cameras for a unique flying experience.
You don't have to be a professional pilot or photographer to experience the fun of Radio Control flying.
There are many Ready to Fly Drones that are designed with beginners in mind.
Drones sometimes referred to as quadcopters have a number of innovative features including various flight modes, from beginner mode, to fast or sport mode, and last but not least expert mode.
4K Camera with Gimbal
I personally like these models, because if your a beginner you can enhance your skills and move on to the next level without having to purchase several drones. The Latrax Alias and Traxxas Aton are 2 models that come to my mind.
Other nice features may include, auto takeoff, altitude hold, and return to home. These are all great features that beginners and even advanced pilots really enjoy.
I personally am a sport flyer but from time to time it is nice to capture aerial video or still images. Many models are multi-functional, they can provide amazing speed and aerobatics one moment, and be in the air capturing aerial imagery in the next.

FINAL THOUGHTS

As you can attest there are several options and applications for FPV and a FPV Drone.
In the R/C industry there are a variety of models, with a wide array of features, for a diverse set of pilots looking for there own unique experience.
