Power & Performance-To complete the power plant for the Spartan, Traxxas teamed up with Castle Creations, a known leader in brushless high power performance to develop the high-voltage speed control and powerful Velineon 540 XL motor. The Velineon VXL-65 speed control is capable of handling the extra voltage and current, allowing the Velineon 540 XL brushless motor to propel the Spartan to 50+mph speeds.
The speed control and motor are water cooled with water drawn from the rudder system, and routed through the speed control case and around the sealed jacket on the motor.
Before you launch your Spartan for its first run, take time to review the detailed owners manual put together by Traxxas. It will inform you of the electronic adjustments that can improve the Traxxas Spartan's performance with different driving styles in various water conditions.
Hull
The hull on the model stands out with the attractive graphics that are pre-installed at the factory. The hull is constructed in layers of ABS, lightweight yet durable where it counts, in the transom and ride pad. For additional strength foam fills the bow cavity and fits the contour of the hull. A Hatch (Or Canopy) is fastened with a clip and lanyard, for easy access to motor and electronics. Inside the compartment battery trays are integrated into the hull, accommodating different battery types, and allows you to tune performance by moving batteries fore or aft. Batteries are secured with hooks and straps.
Transmitter
The Spartan is controlled with the TQi Radio Transmitter. The 2.4GHz radio delivers a long range high output signal and sports a variety of tuning features. The TQi is adjustable, throttle and steering end points can be set. A multi function knob is programmable to control the sensitivity of the steering and throttle. An optional docking station can be equipped on the TQi for either a I-Phone or I-Pad touch. A free Traxxas Link App can be downloaded, providing other tuning options and telemetry if optional Traxxas sensors are purchased.
Waterproof Electronics
The electronics aboard the Traxxas Spartan are sealed and waterproof. A watertight receiver box houses the receiver, the high torque rudder servo and VXL-6s speed control are waterproof as well.
Batteries with iD Charger
The Spartan is designed to handle high voltage capacity LiPo packs. Included are two 5000mAh 3 cell LiPo Battery Packs. The Spartan is equipped with a power plant system that is capable of handling up to 6S of LiPo battery pack. 50+ Speed on 6S LiPo batteries.
To charge the LiPo batteries Traxxas has included the EZ Peak 4 Amp charger with iD technology, delivering a perfect charge each and every time. The charger is easy to use, simply plug batteries into the charger( no settings or programming) cells are charged individually for maximum performance, run time, and cycle life.
