Racing Wheels - the beadlock Walker Evans Racing Wheels mounted on the Axial Yeti are officially licensed and will work with most 2.2" tires.
The IFD (Interchangeable Face Design) is easily dressed up for a new look.
With this wheel design you can vary the amount of air passing through the breather holes by leaving one, two, or three open holes, (2, 4, or 6 total) by simply rotating the inner (beadlock) ring.
When reassembled it locks the position with its 3 piece bead lock design.
BF Goodrich Krawler Tires - the Axial Yeti version of the tire mirrors the same aggressive look as the full size off-road B.F. Goodrich Krawler (T/A KX tires) which by the way has won more championships than any other tires combined.
Provide good performance on the open road and over the rocks, can be a bit more challenging when encountering soft fluffy soil.
With its high diversity and performance the tire is perfect for this style of model.
Brushless Power (Water Resistant) - powering the monster truck is a Vanguard 3150 KV 4 pole brushless motor, capable of delivering the precise amount of speed and torque for this rock hurling monster.
The long can design delivers an extreme amount of power when powered with a 3s LiPo.
The durable motor features 14 awg wire leads and 4mm male connectors.
The motor performs well and may surprise you with its strength and speed, on 3s the Axial Yeti has some serious power.
ESC - the vanguard ESC was developed by castle creations for Axial, provides exceptional power, braking, with adjustability. The ESC can be programmed manually with a castle field programming card or through castle link. Comes with standard Deans plug.

Suspension and Drivetrain
Independent Front Suspension - the IFS system provides you with the stability required for rock racing.
With various terrains, the rock sizes you encounter vary, and each one is handled individually, making the terrain varied from one side of the vehicle to the other.
The IFS system is designed to allow drivers to maintain control and stay on the intended path of travel, especially at high speeds as one side is adjusting to overcome the obstacles in its path.

Rear Axle - also featured on the Axial Yeti is an AR60 rear axle with a unique new 4 link rear suspension, the chassis on the yeti provides 3 upper link positions for adjustment.
The axle is constructed from a durable composite material, with a low flex rate. The axle tubes have been reinforced with a boxed in axle truss.
To change the roll center the lower link mounts can be flipped, designed to improve performance.
Tension Bar-another unique feature is the tension bar design, which has long pivot arms used in combination with the long travel suspension, designed to control torque twist resulting from extreme power.
The system reduces body roll and adds stability at high speeds.
Aluminum Shock Bodies - usually featured as an option from axial, but on the Axial Yeti, the aluminum shock bodies come standard.
The shocks provide for extremely smooth suspension movement throughout the entire range of wheel travel.
These aluminum shock bodies are precisely machined for superior handling on a variety of terrains.
Dual Slipper Clutch - the slipper clutch design on the model has a pad on each side of the spur gear which adds surface area for increased holding power and precise tuning.
Being the Yeti is a high torque application a durable 32 pitch gear has been utilized.
Metal Gear Servo - the tactic TSX metal gear servo cranks out 151 oz. in. of torque, for exceptional turning power. The dual ball bearings are responsible for smooth and precise rotation for the metal gear driven servo.

INTRODUCTION

The Company 
T-Bone Racing - was founded in 2004 by Rich Grafton, an avid RC car enthusiast who enjoyed racing RC cars with friends and family on there yard track.
It occurred to Rich that more time was spent replacing broken parts than time spent racing the models.
There had to be a better way to protect the models, he decided to make a bumper.
Rich's background in welding and fabrication was an asset in developing a bumper for a Losi RC model.
After running the model for a period of time and testing, the front end failures of the past were history.
He built another bumper for one of his other models, eventually he had fabricated and outfitted his entire fleet with bumpers.
The next idea that popped into his head was to sell one of his bumpers on e-bay, before long he realized the demand for bumpers and the protection they provided was a void that the RC hobby needed filled.

To minimize the chance of a screw pulling through, 2 stems are included to take up the slack from the raised ribs on the stock skid.
To minimize flex, a new rear brace now includes 2 mounting holes instead of one.
The whole assembly sits lower in the rear, which drops front wheels down to a lower angle on wheelies.

Suspension - the Revo-Spec suspension was engineered and designed with performance that is relatively light over small bumps, and tends to tighten when compressed to prevent the model from bottoming out when landing off larger jumps.
Suspension Travel -
Pivot balls on the suspension are utilized for easy adjustment and smooth suspension movement.
Sealed ball bearings shield against dirt and debris and reduce friction.
GTR Shocks - are oil filled and adjustable, designed to absorb the punishment, and keep the 1 16 E Revo VXL under control. 
Note: the viscosity of the oil may need to be relatively heavy to get good handling on track or when jumping the model.
The tuneable shocks have threaded spring pre-load collars for adjusting ride height, also included on the shocks are air bladders, that are designed for air/oil separation.
Damping rates are tuneable, and independent of ride height adjustments, they are designed to assist with handling and control.
Brushless Motor and ESC - the 8 turn 4000 kv  brushless Vileneon motor is designed to be maintenance free.
The rotor is balanced precisely, inside the case high temperature neodymium motor magnets have been included in the design, power is transferred through 3.5mm bullet connectors.
The Vileneon VXL 3m brushless Electric Speed Control is compatible with
LiPo battery packs, either 2 or 3 cell, ranging from ( 7.4 to 11.1 volts) ( Recommended battery type)
NiMH or NiCad battery packs from 6 -12 cells ranging from (7.2 to 14.4 volts)
Separate battery compartments are conveniently located on each side of the chassis, and include quick release battery doors and battery cooling vents.

Sealed Electronics - the electronics onboard the 1 16 E Revo VXL are sealed from the elements, the components themselves are not waterproof but the cases they reside in are sealed.
The patented receiver box from Traxxas is designed to allow the servo and antenna wires to be neatly routed through a watertight seal.
O- rings protect the receiver from dust and water, the receiver is capable of being removed or upgraded without losing the integrity of the seal to the box.
The digital steering servo box is watertight and sealed with its o-ring seal type construction.
The  E Revo 's 2080 servo puts out 41.7 oz.-in. of torque.

Body and Components - the 1 16 E Revo VXL comes pre-assembled with a ProGraphix body and pre-applied decals, so you can be up and running within minutes out of the box.
A wing for downforce adds a formula 1 type style, the wings downforce is designed to assist with rear traction, while controlling the model in the air when jumping.

FINAL THOUGHTS
With the proper gearing and battery setup the 1 16 E Revo VXL is extremely fast, almost to fast. Most users recommend LiPo batteries. May be a good idea to put a wheelie bar on it to keep it from flipping over backwards when pulling off wheelies. The model is durable and can withstand some serious bashing. It may take some time to get a handle on this one, but overall it is a good performer.

Brushless Power - the electric power on board the Traxxas Stampede 2WD Monster Truck is efficient and plenty capable of delivering an amazing amount of horsepower.
The Velineon 3500 brushless motor teamed up with the VXL-3s electronic speed control were designed to provide smooth starts, with precise control.
The brushless motor is equipped with high temperature Neodymium magnets, balanced rotor and high speed ball bearings.
The motor being brushless and without any internal parts wear, was engineered to bring consistent power and performance.
VXL 3s ESC (Electronic Speed Control) -features forward and reverse plus 3 driving profiles to choose from.
Training, Sport, and Race modes offer a unique feature, especially for beginners who may have never driven an RC model before. In Training mode the throttle can be cut up to 50% to enable drivers to enhance and obtain driving skills before releasing the full power of the VXL Brushless system.
 Drivetrain - A revo spec- adjustable slipper clutch was designed to handle the power from the Traxxas Stampede 2WD Brushless system. It is responsible for delivering smooth and consistent power to the ground.
The VXL's Magnum 272 transmission includes all metal gears on sealed ball bearings, standard 48 pitch gears deliver power to telescoping u-joint driveshafts.
The gearbox is sealed and protects the components from the elements, including dirt and rocks.
Other components include metal turnbuckles, with heavy duty rod ends, and hex hardware.
On all 4 corners of the chassis are white powder coated oil filled shocks, that can be tuned with a variety of oils, pistons, and springs.
You can adjust ride height and spring pre-load, the shocks can be rebuilt or upgraded with inexpensive  ready available parts and kits.
Chassis -the chassis is molded from high quality nylon composites with an adequate amount of ground clearance.
For a high-tech appearance many parts including the chassis, transmission cover, and shock bodies are molded in gray.
On the rear of the model an adjustable wheelie bar is pre-installed.

Advanced TQi Radio System - precise control for the Traxxas Stampede 2WD monster truck is achieved with the advanced technology provided by the TQi transmitter.
The transmitter is designed to feel comfortable in your hand, the TQi radio includes electronic trim control, battery indicator, and precise adjustments for throttle and steering control.
A high torque steering servo is included on the model along with a compact receiver, delivering a range for up to a quarter mile.
Steering sensitivity, throttle trim, and braking percentage can be programmed and saved within the system.
Up to 30 Traxxas linked-enabled models can be saved with the advanced TQi radio system.

The Traxxas Stampede 2WD Brushless RC Truck has its strong points. Is it without its downsides ?
Definitely not !  With its brushless power plant it is capable of delivering some serious power and speed with the proper battery and gear setup. TSM ( Traxxas Stability Management)   assists with the handling.
To achieve the speeds you may desire, a battery upgrade will more than likely need to be made.
